Ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon fillets skin-on for maximum crispiness
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing the fish
  • to taste salt and pepper season generously
  • 1 lemon lemon zest or juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or minced fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoked or sweet
  • optional fresh herbs dill, parsley, or thyme for garnish

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Basting brush

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even crisping from the start.
  2. Brush each salmon fillet lightly with olive oil, coating the skin and flesh evenly. This helps the seasoning stick and promotes a crispy skin.
  3. Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika evenly over the fillets, pressing lightly to adhere the seasoning.
  4. Squeeze fresh lemon juice or sprinkle lemon zest over the seasoned fillets for bright, fresh flavor.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down into the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t crowded so the hot air can circulate freely.
  6. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the skin is golden and crackling, and the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Remove the salmon carefully from the basket, sprinkle with fresh herbs if desired, and serve immediately to enjoy the crispy skin and tender interior.

Notes

For extra crispiness, bump the temperature to 410°F for the last minute. Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite sides.
