  • 2 cups water preferably filtered
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom pods
  • 1 teaspoon dried ginger slices
  • 1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract vanilla optional

Method
 

  1. Add water to a saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Place cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, cardamom pods, and dried ginger slices into the water.
  3. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the mixture simmer gently for about 15 minutes to allow the spices to release their aroma.
  4. Remove the lid and gently swirl in vanilla extract or add a split vanilla bean for deeper flavor.
  5. Let it simmer uncovered for another 5 minutes, allowing the liquid to infuse with the vanilla aroma and deepen in fragrance.
  6. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve to remove the whole spices, leaving a clear, aromatic chai spice infusion.
  7. Serve the warm chai spice infusion in cups, enjoying the fragrant aroma and comforting warmth infused in every sip.
