Ingredients

  • 4 pieces fresh figs ripe and honeyed
  • 1 log brie cheese at room temperature
  • 1 baguette baguette preferably crusty
  • 2 tablespoons honey or balsamic glaze
  • optional chopped pistachios or fresh thyme for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Paring knife
  • Spreader or small spoon
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the figs into neat ¼-inch pieces, aiming for uniform slices that will sit nicely on the baguette rounds.
  3. Cut the baguette into ½-inch thick rounds, then arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the baguette slices for about 8-10 minutes, until they are golden and crisp.
  5. While the bread is toasting, cut the brie cheese into small chunks or thin slices for easy spreading.
  6. Once the baguette slices are toasted and cooled slightly, spread a small amount of brie onto each piece using a spreader or small spoon.
  7. Top each brie-topped baguette with a slice or two of fig, arranging them attractively.
  8. Drizzle a tiny bit of honey or balsamic glaze over each bite for a glossy finish and extra flavor.
  9. If desired, sprinkle with chopped pistachios or fresh thyme for added texture and aroma.
  10. Arrange the bites on a serving platter, and they’re ready to serve — elegant, sweet, and creamy in every bite.
