Not Your Typical Cocktail
I made this drink on a whim. Like, I was cutting watermelon for a salad and thought, what if I just blended this up with tequila? No fancy syrups, no fuss. Just the raw sweetness, the scent of sun-warmed watermelon, and that tiny kick of lime right as I took the first sip. It’s nothing like the slippery, overly sweet margaritas most people think of. This one’s fresh—like you grabbed a handful of watermelon from the fridge and threw it in a shaker.
Turns out, it’s perfect for when the heat hits harder than expected, or when you want to pretend you’re on a tiny island, even if you’re just in your backyard. I can’t quite explain it, but that crispy, juicy watermelon smell combined with a splash of salt and lime—something about it just makes everything feel lighter. Summer is weird. It’s kind of perfect for this.

- Strain the mixture into chilled glasses, optionally garnished with a lime wedge or a small watermelon slice. Serve immediately for a cold, refreshing drink.
Notes
Maybe it’s the way watermelon melts into the tequila — no fuss, just how it’s supposed to be. Or maybe I’m just glad I found a cocktail that’s more like fruit juice and less like a sugar bomb. Whatever. It’s going to be my go-to when the sun’s relentless and I need something cold in my hand, not just another round of sticky margaritas. Maybe this is the start of a whole new obsession. Or maybe I’ll just keep making it because it’s stupidly easy. Who knows.
