Hi, I’m Katie Dawson, the owner, cook, and storyteller behind Little More Lovely. I run a small café in a cozy corner of Seattle, where the smell of freshly baked bread meets the hum of neighborhood chatter.
I’ve spent years learning how food can bring people together, both as a professional and as someone who loves to share meals with family and friends.
Every day in my café, I get to combine my love for cooking with a real sense of community—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
My Journey to the Café
I didn’t start out thinking I’d own a café. After working in kitchens, cooking for family and friends, and exploring flavors from around the world, I realized I wanted a space that felt like home to others. Somewhere simple, welcoming, and honest—where a cup of coffee could be paired with a meal made with care.
Opening my own café was a leap. There were long hours, early mornings, and countless lessons learned the hard way. But the reward has been seeing familiar faces return, hearing a child laugh over a favorite treat, or watching neighbors connect over a shared table. That’s when I understood that food isn’t just about recipes—it’s about connection, comfort, and moments that matter.
How I Cook
I love grilling, whether it’s vegetables from my own small garden or meats seasoned with herbs I picked just hours before. I spend weekends at farmers’ markets, searching for the freshest ingredients and inspiration for the week ahead. For me, cooking is about curiosity, experimentation, and honoring ingredients as they are.
Inside the café or at home, my focus is simple: flavor, freshness, and joy. I share dishes that feel approachable but never compromise on taste, from hearty breakfasts to warm, comforting dinners.
Life Beyond the Kitchen
Outside of the café, I’m a mom and a gardener. I enjoy spending quiet mornings tending to herbs and vegetables, letting the garden guide my cooking. Weekends often include trips to local markets, spontaneous grilling sessions, or simply sharing a homemade meal with my family. Reading, sketching recipes, and exploring neighborhood cafés are other ways I recharge.
Why I Created Little More Lovely
This blog is an extension of my café. It’s a place where you’ll find recipes that feel like home, practical cooking tips, and stories about the simple pleasures of food. I hope it inspires you to enjoy meals that are nourishing, unhurried, and made with love.
Thank you for stopping by. Whether you’re cooking for family, friends, or just yourself, I hope every bite feels a little more lovely.
